My New Laptop

This here is the laptop that I got myself yesterday. I managed to get a pretty sweet deal from JB Hi-Fi: A substantial discount, plus a portable HDD thrown in as a freebie. So overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

HP Pavilion DV5-1007TX
Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 (2.53 Ghz)
4Gb DDR2 800Mhz RAM
320Gb 5400RPM SATA HDD
Nvidia 9600M GT 512Mb VRAM
DVDRW Combo Drive
Bluetooth/WiFi/Ethernet
15.4" Display

The laptop cost me just under AU$1,600. It originally costs AU$2,000 but it was marked down, and then discounted a further 10%.

Oh ok thanks. So what do you think of it? Any problem that i should be aware of before getting it?

There is one problem with the DVD drive. It is quite loud, and it vibrates quite strongly when it spins up. And you can feel the vibrations through the palm rests, which is quite annoying.

Who are you, by the way? Leave a name?

Im just a random guy who was googling on this laptop and your blog came up as one of the results so i decided to ask some quick questions before making my purchase. Thanks for all the help.

If you're still reading this, another thing I should point out is that the DVD drive construction is a little weak.

When opening the disk drive, the plastic seems to bend in and give more than I expected it to. It's not a very hard plastic.

So far, I'm very pleased with my purchase. The DVD drive seems to be the weakest link in the chain though.
