Hmm... It's a difficult choice that I have to make right now. I only have a limited amount of disposable cash to spend. And even then, I shouldn't be blowing all my money on games. And when there are multiple excellent games on the market simultaneously, it makes the game buying process that much harder.
Empire: Total War
Large scale tactical battles, rich historical backdrop with a robust strategic play, players take on the role of both king and general. And with the new added feature of naval battles, this game is bursting at it seams with good bits. A big, chunky meaty game, the kind that you can really sink your teeth into.
Dawn of War II
This game apparently creates a whole new way of real-time strategy game that thinking of it as a mere sequel would do it a great dis-service. The mundane task of building a functional economy is removed. Crafting a specialised squad of combatants, and wielding them as you would a surgical knife becomes the focus of the game. And that sounds terribly exciting.
So I've got a big meaty chunky pie on the one hand, and a palette cleansing aperitif on the other. Which one should it be?

Dood - get DOWII. Hold off on ETW until the multiplayer strategic campaign patch is out. Also, the verdict is still out on whether ETW Special Force edition is worth it. Personally - just get DOWII because you'ld enjoy the game and hold off until ETW gets cheaper.
Btw, get ETW via steam because ETW uses steam for all multiplayer games anyway. Get DOWII via steam as well because the first 2 patches already out.
I'd love to get it on Steam... but I've got a monthly download limit of 20GB at home. AND I'm sharing with my wife and housemate. Which severely reduces the amount of download I can use.
DOWII comes in about 7GB off Steam, so that's a bit undo-able.
My hand may already be forced into buying it from retail.
I don't think its 7. I think its about 3.8 or 4. then again, I did have the beta installed previously.
get it on cdwow.com.au because that's the cheapest. You'll see me online when you want to do the coop campaign. :)
I forgot to mention that the only reason why I think you'll like DOWII is because its like a cross between COH, Diablo and WC3.

The only reason why I'm holding off on ETW is because I think its still too expensive and I don't know whether the special force units edition (for the 6 SF units) is worth the extra USD$20.
